This week the Garden Club harvested some of our beetroot that looked big enough to be picked.  We roasted the beet root and got to all try some at lunch . Most of the Garden Club hadn't tried roasted beetroot before. The kids loved it - delicious and yummy were words used to describe the roasted beet root. I wonder what else we could cook using our beet root?

Brookby students had a great day of adventuring, navigating, and team building at the Lactic Turkey Sustainability Challenge at the Botanic Gardens.
Brookby Vege Market open for business! Fresh veges grown by our Garden Club included coriander, broccoli, celery, rainbow beet and crunchy fresh lettuce. Our customers were impressed they could buy such delicious and fresh, spray free veges from our gardeners!

Tree Planting Fun

Our great team of tree planters dug over 200 holes today on a steep bank at a local farm to plant a variety of native trees. This is part of a project to help protect the local stream from sediment. The Brookby students did a fabulous job!

Wai Care Team

The Wai Care Team cares for the stream that runs next to Brookby School, a tributary to the Papakura Stream. We test the water for things like nitrates and water temperature, and check that the water is healthy for creatures to survive and thrive!

Brookby's Bug Hotel

Brookby has its very own Bug Hotel, a relaxing 5 star resort for bugs and beneficial insects. We are hoping that native insects like the weta will move in to our luxurious retreat.
Our bug hotel was made using resources provided by the wonderful Bunnings Manukau plus natural items like leaves, sticks and branches found in the local environment.
Please stop by and have a look to see what creatures are residing here!
